Coco Gauff began her 2026 Australian Open campaign, defeating Kamilla Rakhimova in the first round and Olga Danilović in the second round to advance. Both of those victories were straight sets win as Gauff enters the third round with a lot of confidence.
Gauff is aiming to win her third Grand Slam title and first Australian Open victory.
Where Is Coco Gauff Playing?
Gauff is playing at Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Australia, the venue for the first Grand Slam of the year. The tournament’s matches are being held across Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena, and John Cain Arena.
It’s yet to be decided in which arena Gauff will be playing for her next match. Her first round match was at Rod Laver Arena and her second round match was at Margaret Court Arena.
Who is Coco Gauff Playing Against?
In the third round of the Australian Open 2026, Coco Gauff will face fellow American Hailey Baptiste. The World No. 70 defeated local player Storm Hunter in straight sets in her second-round match. After coming through the qualifiers, Hunter defeated Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in the first round.
After Gauff’s first-round win, which included seven double faults, the two-time Grand Slam champion told reporters:
“I try not to put so much pressure on myself with the first round. I just want to win the tournament, so whether I lose first round or in the finals, I don’t think I would be as satisfied so until then, I’m only okay. Winning is the only satisfying result, but that doesn’t mean I’m not proud of myself throughout the tournament. I’ll only be satisfied if I win.”
