Jannik Sinner will be aiming for his third straight Masters 1000 title when he faces World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz in the Monte Carlo final on Sunday. Ahead of the fiery summit clash between the top two seeds, fans and analysts are staking their claims, voicing their picks for who will win the Masters title.
Coco Gauff’s former coach, Brad Gilbert, shared his take on who he thinks will come out on top in Sunday’s final. Gilbert was steadfast in his belief that Sinner would win the Monte Carlo Masters, extending his streak to three ATP-1000-level titles.
“We got Alcaraz versus Sinner, number 17. Both look pretty solid today in MC. And Sinner is just the last four Master Series. He has just dominated, lost only one set. The 10-6 head-to-head for escape from Alcaraz matters and his great unpredictability. That’s the beautiful thing about him. You never know exactly what he’s gonna do and how he’s gonna execute it. So that makes him tough to scout and understand,” Gilbert said.
“But the way Sinner’s been taking care of his serve, the serve plus one, and getting these early breaks, I think it’s gonna be crucial for him to be able to dictate and dominate the center of the court and be really effective on his serve plus one, what he’s been doing,” he added.
“I’m leaning toward Sin City in a tight one, and the tennis fan in me just roots for a great match. And hopefully it’ll be like another one of their classics. So fire up, tennis fans. MC Final tomorrow,” Gilbert concluded.
Jannik Sinner Ecstatic Upon Reaching Maiden Monte Carlo Masters Final
After notching up his eighth straight win against Alexander Zverev, Sinner reached his maiden Monte Carlo Masters final and now has a chance to make it a hat-trick of Masters 1000 titles. The Italian defeated Zverev 6-1, 6-4 in the semifinals and never really allowed the German to settle in.
“We came here trying to give myself some feedback. Now finding myself in the final means a lot to me. I’m very happy with this performance. I felt really solid from the beginning. When you’re a break up from the beginning, it changes the dynamic of the match,” Sinner told ATP media.
It is expected to be a hot and heavy clash between Sinner and Alcaraz, as the final is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. local time, 6:30 p.m. IST, and 8:30 a.m. EST.
