Canada’s 19-year-old WTA star Victoria Mboko broke inside the top 10 rankings for the first time in her career following her deep run in the 2026 Qatar Open in Doha. The Canadian reached the finals after defeating 2026 Australian Open champion Elena Rybakina in the quarterfinals and Jeļena Ostapenko in the semifinals. However, she came up short against Karolina Muchova in the finals of the Qatar Open.

Victoria Mboko Withdraws From Dubai Tennis Championships After Doha Heartbreak

Victoria Mboko talked about her emotions after learning that she’s now a top 10 WTA star in the world. After her final in Doha, she told reporters:

“It’s kind of crazy. I never expected something to happen so fast for me. It’s nice to see that, to have that milestone, to see that number. So, I’m pretty happy with that. I have have been taking it day by day, tournament by tournament. Every tournament I enter, I want to do well. I don’t hold that much expectation of myself. It’s not like when I enter a tournament I’m going to say I’m going to win it, but you always want to try your best.”

After her Doha final heartbreak, Victoria Mboko has withdrawn her name from the Dubai Tennis Championships due to a right elbow injury. She joins other top stars like Iga Swiatek, Karolina Muchova, Maria Sakkari, Zheng Qinwen and Elisabetta Cocciaretto (thigh injury), who are also ruled out from the tournament.

It remains to be seen where the Canadian participates next.
