American No. 1 and World No. 4 Coco Gauff shared an endearing reaction to legendary skier Lindsey Vonn’s homecoming video on social media. Vonn shared an Instagram reel documenting her journey from a hospital near the Games village in Milano-Cortina to one in the United States.
Vonn’s dream run at the Winter Games came to a heartbreaking end in run 1, when she sustained a complex tibial fracture in her left leg that required multiple surgical procedures. However, the former Olympic gold medalist remained in high spirits as she expressed gratitude to all the medical staff and people behind the scenes who helped the 41-year-old return home safely despite the horrific injury.
“My leg is still in pieces…but I’m finally HOME! Intensive care unit ➡️ambulance➡️plane➡️ambulance ➡️🇺🇸hospital. Thankful to all of the medical staff who helped me get home 🙏🏻❤️ and seriously looking forward to my next surgery when I can get the X-fix out of my leg and will be able to move more,” Vonn wrote in the caption.
“My injury was a lot more severe than just a broken leg. I’m still wrapping my head around it, what it means, and the road ahead… but I’m going to give you more detail in the coming days. As always, I appreciate all the love and support 🙏🏻❤️” she further added. Gauff was quick to send her love and support for Vonn and commented, “❤️❤️❤️.”

Gauff has shown constant support ever since Vonn began her determined journey to compete at the Games despite suffering an ACL tear in her left knee just days before the opening day. The 21-year-old is currently playing at the Dubai Open, aiming to snap out of a momentary skid.
Coco Gauff Starts Her Journey in the Dubai Open on a Positive Note
Despite a lackluster record in the Middle East swing, Gauff entered the Dubai Open with high hopes and started her journey on a positive note. Gauff defeated Anna Kalinskaya in straight sets in the round of 32 match on Tuesday to advance to the next round.
With Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek out, Gauff’s biggest competition in the top half for a potential semifinal clash will be Elena Rybakina. In contrast, in the final, from the bottom half will be countrywomen Amanda Anisimova and Jessica Pegula.
It remains to be seen how far the two-time Grand Slam champion goes at the Dubai Open. Gauff will face Elise Mertens next in the round of 16 match on Wednesday.
