Carlos Alcaraz Is The Biggest Threat To Brother Jaime’s Future: Serena Williams’ Ex-Coach Drops Bold Claim

Serena Williams’ former coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, recently made remarks on Carlos Alcaraz’s brother, who is following in the footsteps of the seven-time Grand Slam champion. Alcaraz’s younger brother, Jaime Alcaraz, is still very early in his career, playing the junior tennis circuit (U14-U15 level).

Mouratoglou shared a clip on Instagram where Jaime shows similar qualities to Carlos while winning a point, involving hustle. Just like Carlos, Jaime never gave up on the point and in the end, he benefited from his quick play and reflexes.

Referencing the clip, the popular tennis coach said:

“What we’re watching at the moment is the little brother of Carlos Alcaraz playing a match point. Not only the match point is unbelievable, but also it shows the same type of qualities as Carlos. What we can really feel when we watch Carlos is this huge enjoyment of playing tennis. And we feel the same with his brother.”

Mouratoglou believes it’s going to be difficult for Jaime to make the same mark as Alcaraz because he will be constantly compared and asked to live up to huge expectations. He also noted the comparison to the legendary Williams sisters but pointed out that there was only one year difference between Serena and Venus, whereas in the case of the Alcaraz brothers, there’s an eight-year difference.

“I think there is nothing more difficult than to be the brother of Carlos Alcaraz when you’re a tennis player,” Mouratoglou added. “It was different for Serena and Venus because they were almost the same age. There was one year difference, so they were growing together. Carlos is already number one in the world, he’s already a superstar. So for his brother to try to go the same path, I think it’s going to be very difficult. And he’s going to be the brother of Alcaraz all his life as a tennis player. I think it’s courageous to try to go the same way.”

How Far Along Is Carlos Alcara’s Brother Jaime in Tennis?

Jaime Alcaraz is making his mark in the junior level of tennis, having already won titles on the Rafa Nadal Tour and other similar-level events. He became Spain’s No. 2-ranked player in the U14 category and recently won a U15 tournament in Murcia with a viral match point. The same point Mouratoglou was talking about in his post.

Jaime has also collected international exposure, playing in prestigious junior events like Les Petits As and ITF junior competitions in Europe.

Jaime has a similar playing style to his brother Carlos Alcaraz, noting his shot-making and similar flair on top of visible joy and creativity on the court.

Jaime will always be confronted with huge expectations and constant comparison, which will be no easy challenge to navigate on a mental level. Let’s see what the future awaits for the younger Alcaraz.
