Ben Shelton’s girlfriend, Trinity Rodman, shared an endearing reaction to a social media post that showed her protecting Washington Spirit teammate Tara Rudd from the sun during a medical break in a regular-season game against Bay FC at PayPal Park in San Jose, California, on Sunday.
While Rodman failed to get on the score sheet, the Spirit won the contest 2-0, registering their first win of the season and moving to eighth place in the standings. The star forward shared an image of herself shielding Rudd from the sun during the medical break on her Instagram story.
“My soul sister,” Rodman wrote.

Rodman is an outgoing person who cherishes her relationships with teammates, friends, and family. She actively showcases support for her loved ones in their personal endeavors, especially Ben Shelton. During the days off between the NWSL games against Denver and Bay FC, the Spirit star traveled to Houston, where Shelton was gearing up to begin his clay season.
The World No. 9 and reigning Dallas Open champion suffered a shocking defeat as the No. 1 seed in the Houston Open against Argentina’s Thiago Agustin Tirante in the quarterfinals on Friday, thereby ending his hopes for a second ATP title ahead of the European clay swing.
Ben Shelton Wins His First Doubles Title of the Season
Despite suffering a shocking loss in singles, Ben Shelton managed to win his first doubles ATP crown of the season alongside teammate and fellow Gators alum Andres Andrade. The duo defeated the No. 1-seeded Brazilian pairing of Rafael Matos and Orlando Luz in three sets on Sunday in Houston.
Shelton, who had already decided to skip the Monte Carlo Masters due to the Houston Open, will return to action on the ATP tour in Munich (ATP 500), followed by the Mutua Madrid Open (ATP 1000) to cap off his proceedings for April.
