“Alexander Zverev Is Insufferable” – Carlos Alcaraz & Jannik Sinner Fans Slam German For Controversial ‘Yacht & Ferrari’ Comment

Alexander Zverev recently took an indirect dig at Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner by making a statement about his lifestyle without a yacht and Ferrari. This controversial statement did not sit right with the fans of the top two players, as they slammed the German with harsh comments online.

Zverev recently won his first-ever Grand Slam title at the French Open, as he took fair advantage of Sinner suffering a shocking early loss in the second round due to physical fatigue and Alcaraz’s withdrawal due to his wrist injury. After prevailing over players, including Jesper De Jong, Rafael Jodar, Jakub Mensik, and more, he advanced to the final round.

Here, he locked horns with Flavio Cobolli, and after a thrilling five-set match, claimed a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, 6-7(7), 6-1 victory. Days after this win, he sat for a conversation with Esquire, where he opened up about his lifestyle. He said that he doesn’t define himself by yachts and luxury cars, taking a subtle dig at Alcaraz and Sinner, as the world No. 2 recently made headlines for having a 9 million euro worth catamaran and on the other hand, the Italian owns several luxury cars.

“I don’t need perfection on a daily basis and I don’t define myself by symbols of social status. No superyachts, no twenty Ferraris. For me, true happiness is much simpler: play a game of golf in the afternoon, then go home to find my dogs. It brings me much more than any material luxury,” said Zverev.

    Zverev’s statement

This statement drew attention from the Spaniard and Sinner’s fans online, who bashed Zverev, calling him ‘insufferable.’ One of the fans wrote on X:

“Oh my god. He’s insufferable. Someone tell him owning a yatch or a Ferrari is better than being a cocky entitled asshole who abuses women.”

Slamming him for the domestic violence case he was accused of in 2020 by his former girlfriend, Olya Sharypova, one of the followers commented:

“He instead spends his money on lawyers for his domestic violence cases.”

Calling the German ‘self-obsessed,’ one of the users on X penned:

“How self-obsessed do you have to be to say stuff like this?!! My God….”

Highlighting that he himself owns a Lamborghini, one of the fans wrote:

“On the other hand, the Lamborghini is a car for workers… alright!!”

Along similar lines, one of the users chimed in:

“But he does own and drive super cars in his tax free home moncao :))))”

Alexander Zverev weighed in on his French Open victory

Shortly after lifting his first-ever Grand Slam trophy, Alexander Zverev spoke to the ATPTour, where he made his feelings known about his French Open win. Expressing his emotions after the victory, he said that he didn’t realize he won the match until he saw everyone in his box celebrating.

Talking about watching his father celebrate the win, he said that he finally realized that he had won.

“It was just relief, joy, everything together. I didn’t realise that I had won the match until I saw my box all jumping around and celebrating. In your mind, you think, ‘Well I’ve got to continue playing’, but then I saw my dad raise his arms in the air. That’s when it kind of hit me, ‘Okay, we’ve done it. We’ve achieved it. We are Grand Slam champions’,” said Alexander Zverev.

Alexander Zverev is now scheduled to compete in the Terra Wortmann Open, where he will be contesting against Vit Koproiva in the opening round.
