The Texas Longhorns 2025 season was a disappointment for what was expected of Steve Sarkisian’s team, as they didn’t even reach the College Football Playoff. Saying that a 10-3 season is a disappointment shows the high level of expectations that the team has following several seasons courting the hopes of a national championship title.
However, that’s how much the team was under pressure from the media and the fandom overall, especially considering that this was the season Arch Manning finally took center stage at Austin.

The season started with hopes of national championships and of a Heisman Trophy for Manning. It ended with them missing on any kind of title and with a mediocre first season as a starter performance for the quarterback. Their only significant achievement was a victory over the Michigan Wolverines in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
However, Sarkisian seems unfazed and willing to move on. He has constantly dismissed any rumors of a desire to move on from Texas. But at this point in February, he’s just enjoying life.
In his wife’s latest post, he can be seen enjoying the offseason with her, Loreal Sarkisian, and their son, Sunny, who was born last year. After a brief time apart, a couple of years back, that was about to end in divorce, the Sarkisians came back together and had their first child together.
The story shows them enjoying time off the world of football and walking by a Nike store as a happy family. Sarkisian is certainly recharging for what’s one of the toughest periods for any coach, rebuilding his roster and preparing for spring practice.
Steve Sarkisian on His Offseason Approach for 2026
Steve Sarkisian is the first to understand that for the Texas Longhorns to reach their expected heights in 2026, there needs to be a rebuild of the roster to improve upon 2025’s depth or lack thereof.
He admitted as much shortly after the team’s victory at the ReliaQuest Bowl against Michigan in late December:
“We’re going to have to build the depth out for that team next year, and then we’ve got to build this culture back, because there’s going to be a ton of new faces. We’ve got 20-some-odd high school kids who are going to join these guys… New leaders have to rise up.”
Improvements have indeed taken place, the most significant being the team’s addition of Cam Coleman through the transfer portal. The receiver was one of the best players on offer through the transfer portal this offseason, and will certainly give the coach and, especially Arch Manning, plenty of other options on the attack.
The fifth-best overall prospect on offer, and the second-best wide receiver on the transfer portal. They have also added four other four-star recruits to their roster in 2026 so far.
There have also been plenty of changes to the coaching staff through the offseason, with the team changing defensive coordinator, running backs coach, and safeties coach.
