The Cleveland Browns are currently searching for their next head coach after firing Kevin Stefanski, with whom they spent six years and finished with an overall record of 45-56.
The candidate pool for the Browns’ head coaching position has been shrinking day by day, with John Harbaugh, Mike McDaniel, and Grant Udinski pulling themselves out of the running.
The current options for the Browns include Nathan Scheelhaase, who has just two years of NFL experience, along with Todd Monken and Jim Schwartz.
Stephen A. Smith recently went on the “First Take” podcast and tossed Deion Sanders’ name for the Cleveland Browns head coaching position; however, he believes the Colorado head coach’s resume doesn’t warrant it.
“This sounds utterly ridiculous considering his coaching record and ability to develop players stop it,” one fan reacted.
“This is the dumbest take ever. At no point should taking the HC job for the mistake by the lake a good career move especially with the owner being who he is and now the team implementing data driven moves. Do better! Mak @espn great again this talk show nonsense needs to end,” another fan said.
“Literally saying out loud ‘I know he isn’t qualified for this job but I hope he has a chance at it,'” another fan pointed out. “You said the Steelers should interview Ryan Clark, what’s his resume to be deserving of a head coaching opportunity?” another fan questioned. “But Ryan Clark’s does???? I can’t stand Deion but literally 24 hours ago this dude said Ryan Clark should be the Steelers coach,” another fan recalled. “No, Deion getting an NFL HC is laughable. But this is the same guy that said RC should get an interview with the Steelers,” another fan added.
NFL Analyst Weighs In on Deion Sanders’ Cleveland Browns Possibility
Deion Sanders has been at Colorado for three years, and while his second year there looked better than the first, the 2025 college football season was disappointing again.
During his first year at Colorado, Coach Prime and his sons ended the season with an overall record of 4-8, followed by a 9-3 season in 2024 and a 3-9 season in 2025.
Talking about who the Browns should hire, Craig Carton said:
“Why not go get a failed college coach to go from college to the pros since he can’t win in college? Why not just do the obvious? Why not just say, ‘Hey Deion Sanders, would you leave Colorado and come be the coach of the Cleveland Browns? Maybe you wanna coach Shedeur Sanders.'”
Deion Sanders has previously said he doesn’t have too much interest in coaching in the NFL.
