Buccaneers OC Search Takes New Turn As Tampa Bay Finalizes Deal To Hire Rival Team’s Offensive Coordinator

It seems that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have now found their next offensive coordinator, and it will be none other than current Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson. This means that Robinson is staying at NFC South and is going to a rival team in the same conference.

According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, he and the Buccaneers are still finalizing a deal to bring him in from Atlanta. Nothing is final yet, but he is pretty much moving between two NFC South teams.

When the Atlanta Falcons fired Raheem Morris earlier this year. Robinson stayed as the offensive coordinator, though he was allowed to interview with other teams. The Buccaneers were among those teams that took interest with the shot-caller, though they had some stiff competition with the Philadelphia Eagles. He ultimately chose to go with Tampa Bay.

As for the Atlanta Falcons themselves, the team is still looking for a general manager but have now lost their offensive coordinator. They have just hired former Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski as their replacement for the fired Raheem Morris, though Stefanski may already have a few names in mind to be his OC over at Atlanta.

Who Is New Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offensive Coordinator Zac Robinson?

While the Atlanta Falcons struggled last season, many believed that their offense had improved under Zac Robinson. He used to be the Los Angeles Rams’ passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach before he became the offensive coordinator for Atlanta, and this made him a very attractive coaching prospect for the offensive side of things.

His offensive coaching style has been compared to Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan and is credited for helping develop various NFL stars. These include Bijan Robinson, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts.

He made big changes as the Falcons OC, as he helped improve their offense. This year, even with the Michael Penix injury, they still had a decent season offensively as they finished 14th in yards per game (333.0) and eighth in rushing yards per game (125.8).
