Former Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore was not only fired from the program as its head coach but was also arrested for breaking into his ex-mistress Paige Shiver’s home and threatening to kill her.
According to the reports, Moore broke into Shiver’s house without consent and said he would kill himself as well as her while holding up a butter knife.
On 14th April, Moore was sentenced to 18 months of probation and was fined $1,000 after he pleaded guilty to two charges, while also being instructed not to use drugs or alcohol, possess firearms and contact Shiver.
Talking about the sentence given to Moore, Shiver’s attorney said:
“Today’s sentence does not reflect the seriousness of Moore’s unlawful entry and aggressive attack on Ms. Shiver on December 10th,” Shiver’s attorneys, Andrew M. Stroth and Steven A. Hart, told PEOPLE.
Shiver’s attorney also added:
“For several years, the University of Michigan’s leadership looked the other way and allowed Ms. Shiver to be exploited and abused by Moore,” her attorneys alleged. “The University enabled Moore and others in positions of authority within the Athletic Department, fostered the ongoing and escalating abuse, and advanced a culture that cared not about the hostile environment but instead was focused only on winning football games.”
Shiver claimed that Moore came on her with knives, and said she felt “threatened” while confessing she “feared” for her life.
Cam Newton Weighs In on Longstanding Consequences Faced by Sherrone Moore Over Legal Battles
Sherrone Moore pleaded guilty to two misdemeanours, including malicious use of a telecommunications device in a domestic relationship and a charge of trespass.
Earlier, Moore was also charged with third-degree home invasion and stalking, after which Cam Newton took a moment to highlight that consequences follow one for the long run, which is why people should be mindful of their actions.
“We live in a day and age where you are guilty until proven innocent. Not innocent until proven guilty. Like the damage have already been done for Sherrone Moore, him and his family. I would say it’s a good look for his wife to still stick with him through it all. Uh but at the same time, the question now comes, does he get another job?” Newton said.
Newton further predicted that it would be at least a year before Moore gets another job.
