Top 5 Biggest Blowouts In College Football Playoff History Ft. Indiana vs Oregon

College Football Playoff games aren’t expected to be one-sided or blowouts. Best teams in the country qualify for the playoffs, and it’s safe to assume that two teams going against each other would put up a strong challenge.

However, that’s not how it always goes, and over the years, we have seen some massive blowout wins and losses by some of the best teams in the country. Tonight, Oregon and Indiana marked their presence on the list.

The Peach Bowl semifinal matchup between the Hoosiers and the Ducks ended in Oregon getting thrashed in a 22-56 loss. The 34-point margin is one of the biggest losses in College Football Playoff history.

Let’s see the top five biggest blowouts in CFP history and where tonight’s Oregon loss ranks on that list.

Top 5 Biggest Blowouts in College Football Playoff History

    Georgia vs TCU

In 2022, the Georgia Bulldogs registered the biggest blowout win in the history of the College Football Playoff. They destroyed the Big 12’s TCU in a 65-7 showdown, winning the championship game by 58 points.

    Oregon vs Florida State

Over a decade ago, Oregon, the same team that faced an embarrassing 34-point loss tonight, registered a dominant 59-20, 39-point win over Florida State in the Rose Bowl semifinal. It remains the second biggest victory margin in CFP history.

    Alabama vs Michigan State

In the 2015-16 CFP Cotton Bowl semifinal, Alabama went against Michigan State. The number two-ranked Alabama didn’t even allow the number three-ranked Michigan State to open scoring in the game.

They pulled off a 38-point shutout that still remains one of the most dominant and one-sided performances in College Football Playoff history.

    Indiana vs Alabama

This is still fresh in the memories of Alabama fans. In the 2025-26 CFP Rose Bowl quarterfinal, the Indiana Hoosiers registered a dominant 38-3, 35-point margin win over the Alabama Crimson Tide.

This is tied at number four on the list. What’s even more impressive is that the Indiana Hoosiers have now registered two of the biggest wins in the history of CFP this season alone.

    LSU vs Oklahoma

In 2019, LSU was on a dream run, arguably the best we’ve ever seen from the program. In the 2019-20 CFP Peach Bowl semifinal, when they faced Oklahoma, the Tigers put up a performance to remember.

They registered a 35-point win over Oklahoma, which is now tied at number four on the list of the biggest blowout wins in CFP history.

    Indiana vs Oregon

Now, tonight’s win doesn’t make the top five technically. However, with two teams tied at number four, we can put Indiana’s onslaught against the Oregon Ducks in a 34-point win at the number five position.
