Lane Kiffin is expected to be the main man behind an LSU revival in the coming season, as the news around his controversial transfer from Ole Miss starts to dim. And Kiffin’s hopes for the new season might be pinned on one of the brand new entrants into the LSU team, by the looks of things.
On Tyrann Mathieu’s “In the Bayou” podcast, Kiffin spoke fondly of new LSU star Ty Benefield, revealing what the future holds for the Boise State transfer.
“I said get Ty (Benefield) up here because I think Ty is going to be one of those legends to play here,” Kiffin said.
“He’s wired right, unbelievable range, great ball skills and I’m like you got to get him up here to meet you just to connect it.”
Having played at Boise State for the last few seasons, Benefield is going to start his senior year at a new team in LSU, and is clearly the pick at safety for Lane Kiffin in his new-look lineup. Ty is also the son of former CFL quarterback Daved Benefield, giving him an edge over others in the lineage bracket too.
Lane Kiffin’s Bold Moves Since Joining LSU
Lane Kiffin hasn’t held back one bit since he moved to LSU. The head coach has been targeted by Ole Miss fans on social media but continues to do things his way, constantly taking shots at his former employers.
But at LSU, he seems to be all about wanting to win. He has already added former LSU head coach Ed Orgeron to his coaching staff, and with a $91 million contract over the course of seven years at hand, his focus seems to be solely on taking LSU back to the top.
