The USA figure skating team, including Ilia Malinin, Amber Glenn, and more, recently came down to the field to deliver the first pitch of the New York Mets game. They delivered a chaotic pitching session, which led to the fans comparing them to the MLB team’s form for the season.
The USA figure skating team proved their significance at the 2026 Winter Olympics, winning the gold medal in the team event. The winning team included Malinin, Glenn, Madison Chock, Evan Bates, Ellie Kam, and Danny O’Shea. Days after their notable win, they were invited to deliver the first pitch at the New York Mets vs. Washington Nationals game on April 30, 2026, at Citi Field.
All the members, except Liu and Chock, were present at the venue. Along with them, ice dancer Emilia Zingas and Vadym Kolesnik were also present at the game. Throwing a pitch is not the USA figure skating team’s strongest suit, as they delivered chaotic pitches. The only successful pitch came from Evan Bates and Jason Brown. Videos of this moment have gone viral online, and fans have started trolling the Mets team by comparing their form to the chaotic pitches.

Ilia Malinin shared his thoughts after the World Championships victory
At the 2026 Winter Olympics, Ilia Malinin suffered a shocking collapse in the men’s individual event, finishing eighth despite being the heavy favorite. His performance in the event did not pan out as expected, as he fell twice and fell short of executing his signature quadruple axel. Following this disappointing run, he made his comeback at the World Figure Skating Championships and redeemed himself.
In this event, he secured his third consecutive World Figure Skating Championship title in Prague, securing a total score of 329.40. He bested Yuma Kagiyama and Shun Shato, who claimed second and third places, respectively. Following this victory, he spoke to the media about his performance and redemption, saying:
“I felt really relieved. It’s good that I was able to end the season on a good note and I’m proud of that, but also they’re two completely different competitions in the end, so I think the real redemption will be in 2030,” said Ilia Malinin.
