    The SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships are all set to take place from May 14 to 16, 2026, hosted by Auburn University at the Hutsell-Rosen Track in Auburn. The tournament will feature interesting events and top-notch athletes, who will deliver stellar performances in their respective races.

    From men’s 100m to women’s 100m hurdles, to women’s 200m, and more, fans will witness sprinters, such as Jelani Watkins, Emmi Scales, JaMeesia Ford, and several others, produce dominant performances. Multiple former champions are ready to defend their titles, including Alabama’s Samuel Ogazi, who won the 400m in the 2025 iteration; Ole Miss’ Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan, who won the shot put and hammer last year; and more.

    Former champions returning to the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships

    Here are the names of the defending champions, who are all set to gracefully defend their titles at the 2026 SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

    1. Samuel Ogazi – This Alabama athlete is looking to defend her 400m title after winning the event in 2025 by clocking a time of 45.04s.
    2. Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan – The Ole Miss thrower is once again aiming to solidify his legacy in the hammer and shot put events at the 2026 SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, as he won both the titles in 2025. Last year, he won his third consecutive SEC hammer title by registering 75.72m. Along with this, she also won the shot put title by recording 20.68m in 2025.
    3. Ralford Mullings – The Oklahoma thrower won the men’s discus title at the 2025 SEC Outdoor Championships by throwing 66.48m in the final round. He is entering the 2026 iteration as the favorite and is aiming to once again bag the title with his dominant performance.
    4. Riyon Rankin – This Georgia Bulldog athlete won his first conference title at the 2025 championships by winning the high-jump event with a clearance of 2.29m, setting a new personal best. He is once again ready to stand atop the podium at the 2026 SEC championships.
    5. Aaliyah Butler – Butler will compete in the women’s 400m dash, vying to defend her title, as she helped Georgia in winning the team title in 2025 by winning the 400m race with a time of 50.36s.

    Top athletes to look for at the 2026 SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships 

    1. Jelani Watkins 

    Jelani Watkins will be competing in the men’s 100m at the 2026 SEC Championship and is currently on top this year after his performance at the Mt. SAC Relays. At the 66th Mt. SAC Relays, the Arkansas sprinter stood atop the podium in the men’s 100m dash after clocking a world-leading time of 9.82s. This victory placed him as the second-fastest sprinter under all conditions in the Arkansas Razorbacks program’s history. The heats and finals of his event will take place on days 2 and 3 of the championship.

    2. Emmi Scales 

    Scales has established herself as the top collegiate performer in the women’s 100m hurdles event, with her thrilling performance at several events. Her most recent outing came on May 2, 2026, at the Jim Green Invitational, where she ran her career-best time, clocking 12.68 seconds. With this performance, she also became the national NCAA leader of the event.

    This season, she has run five sub-13-second races, with four of them under 12.9s. Fans are eager to witness her ongoing dominance at the 2026 SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

    3.  Ja’Kobe Tharp

    Auburn’s Ja’Kobe Tharp is having an exceptional 2026 collegiate track season, as he recently broke a notable NCAA record. He was named the National Indoor Male Track Athlete of the Year and is also presently the frontrunner for the prestigious Bowerman Award.

    He dominated the indoor circuit this year, winning the NCAA Indoor National Championship in the 60m hurdles with an impressive time of 7.32 seconds. With this win Tharp surpassed Grant Holloway’s collegiate record of 7.35 seconds. He is currently ranked as the second-fastest American and third-fastest performer in the world for the 60m hurdles.

    Tharp will compete in the 110m hurdles at the 2026 SEC outdoor track and field championships and currently holds the top mark in the NCAA this season, recording a stellar time of 13.09 s at the Tom Jones Memorial. He is entering the outdoor championships with the same dominance and is all set to claim the 110m hurdles victory.
