Oklahoma Sooners Wrestling Lands Ty Eise Transfer From Nebraska, Boosts 2026 Lineup

The Oklahoma Sooners have yet another wrestler from the transfer portal, bringing in Ty Eise from Nebraska. With this, the Sooners have bolstered their lineup ahead of the 2026 season, as Eise comes with four years of standing eligibility after his stint with the Cornhuskers.

The portal season is running at full throttle, with university sports committees and coaches actively scanning through the available pool of talent. As other states lock in their favorites, the Sooners have already started hitting the jackpot with dominant picks like Isaiah Powe, Jersey Robb, and Tyler Eise.

Coming in at 174 lbs, Eise hails from Colorado and started his wrestling endeavor at Ponderosa High School. He joined the Cornhuskers, where he achieved a 9-7 overall record and was honored with the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall of 2025.

Eise was a top-20 player in Willie’s Final Class of 2025 Big Board, and since he has remained a redshirt, he gets four full years of collegiate eligibility to compete.

The Sooners already strengthened their lineup when they recruited the three-time state champion, Jersey Robb, from the Cowboys, their long-time rival. Robb took to his social media and expressed excitement to join the Sooners and create an impact.

When Missouri Head Coach Talked About Bringing Fairness to Transfer Portals

Brian Smith, the head coach of Missouri wrestling, has always been vocal about how transfer portals can change the careers of collegiate wrestlers if things go out of control.

During an interview from May 2025, Smith spoke about bringing in accountability between both parties who agree to join and hand wrestlers multi-year contracts like coaches do.

“I wish there was a way we could control a little better by signing someone for a multi-year contract, and that will be a fairer system as we would have a kid under a multi-year contract, and even if he wanted to leave mid, he would have to pay the contract back to us and that would be a fairer system,” he said.

This statement has been a long-standing discussion within the portal systems, where contracts aren’t honored, which actually makes it difficult for coaches and wrestlers to find the perfect program that would benefit everyone involved in the long term.
