Nebraska Volleyball Coach Dani Busboom Kelly Expresses Disbelief In Fans’ Support For Program In Intense Weather

Nebraska Volleyball Coach Dani Busboom Kelly recently expressed her amazement after the Huskers fans showed unwavering support for the team even in severe weather conditions. Following the regular season, the Big Red team will compete in the spring season, with one of the matches scheduled in Chadron.

The Huskers will lock horns with the Northern Colorado team on April 25 at the Chicoine Center in Chadron, Nebraska. Tickets for the highly anticipated match will be available only in person. With the ticket window soon to be opened, the Huskers fans formed an unbelievably long line in the scorching sun. Hurrdat Sports shared a video of fans waiting in the queue, as the temperature touched an extreme reading of 25 degrees, and wrote:

“Nebraska volleyball is hosting a spring match in Chadron and tickets go on sale (in person only) at 6 p.m. MT… This is the line this morning with feel-like temperatures around 25 degrees. 🤯”

The program’s head coach, Busboom Kelly, also expressed her amazement at the fans’ support.

“Don’t know how I can still be surprised,” Busboom Kelly wrote. “Hope they get a few outdoor projectors so they can watch the hoops game tonight!”

Associate HC Jaylen Reyes Credits HC Dani Busboom Kelly For Nebraska Volleyball’s Zero Transfers

The Nebraska Volleyball team entered the 2026 season with zero players in the transfer portal. This marked the program’s second straight season with zero transfers. Their associate head coach, Jaylen Reyes, credited this feat to coach Dani Busboom Kelly, who has assigned specific and clear roles to each player. He highlighted that players are willing to stay if they believe there’s a plan for them in the future.

“I think the one thing she’s done a really nice job of is defining roles, which I think players, even if they’re not happy with their current role, understand where they stand with their head coach,” Reyes said (11:48 onwards).

“And there’s a plan to get them to, hey, if they want a bigger role, there’s a plan for it, you know. And I think a lot of kids nowadays are willing to believe and maybe wait and be patient if they feel like there is a plan specifically for them, and there are people here to help them execute that plan. And I think there’s a lot of that going on in a lot of college volleyball programs,” he added.

The next transfer portal will open between May 1 and 15.
