Nebraska Volleyball Coach Dani Busboom Kelly shared a motivational message as the Huskers men’s basketball team lost a recent faceoff. The Cornhuskers competed against the Illinois team on Sunday, February 1, 2026, in a home game at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The No. 5 Big Red team fell short against the No. 9 Illinois team 69-78. The Nebraska Women’s Volleyball team coach, Busboom Kelly, was also present to support the fellow team. She joined the Cornhuskers team in January 2025 after the legendary coach John Cook announced his retirement.
As Coach Busboom Kelly attended the basketball faceoff, she penned a heartfelt message, stating that more than the losses and wins of the teams, their impact on younger generations is more valuable. Sharing a selfie with a young Huskers fan, she chimed in:
“Losing sucks but seeing this 3 year old into sports is priceless. We believe in this @huskermbb team!”

Nebraska Volleyball Coach Dani Busboom was recently named as the official ambassador for the LOVB Nebraska team, where she is expected to contribute to growing the volleyball community and athlete development initiatives. She expressed her pride in receiving the opportunity. Coach Busboom Kelly highlighted the impact of the Nebraska Volleyball community on her and stated her gratitude.
“Volleyball has always been at the heart of Nebraska, and I am incredibly honored to support LOVB Nebraska as they continue building something special here,” said Busboom Kelly. “This is a community that shaped me, inspired me, and believed in the power of this sport long before the rest of the country caught up.
