Kazakh figure skating star Mikhail Shaidorov received the special reward that he was promised by the singer Dimash Qudaibergen. The singer had promised the skater a brand new car after he won a gold medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Shaidorov produced an unexpected performance in Milano-Cortina in the short skate program and the free skate finals. After scoring 92.94 in the short skate program, he entered the men’s free skate in the fifth position and stunned his fans by claiming a gold medal after scoring 291.58 points.
He skated to Dimash’s song ‘Confessa & Diva Dance,’ commencing his routine with an impressive triple axel and quadruple salchow combination. Honoring the skater’s victory, the singer promised to gift a brand new car to the champion. Days after the triumph, Qudaibergen delivered his promise by gifting him a Hyundai Palisade after Shaidorov returned home.
The skater’s team posted a bunch of pictures on Instagram that offered glimpses of the special moment. They also added a caption that read:
“Here are some photos of Misha, who received a car as a gift from Dimash, looking incredibly happy 🐼🥰✨ Misha was so moved when he heard Dimash’s song about five years ago that he decided to use it as an Olympic program. And it made him an Olympic champion. Huge thank you @kudaibergenov.dimash 🙏🩵🇰🇿.”
Mikhail Shaidorov Opened Up About Winning the Gold Medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics
After delivering a commanding performance and besting the heavy favorite, Ilia Malinin, for the gold medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Mikhail Shaidorov made his feelings known about his victory in a conversation with Olympics.com. Revealing what helped him in clinching the gold medal, he said that letting his inner child loose played a major role. Highlighting his traits during the performance, he said:
“For many years, I’ve tried to stay a kid, someone who knows no boundaries, in a good way, in the world of sports. Children dream a lot; they visualise and discover new talents. And I want to do the same. I want to stay just as creative, and I want to break new ground, to do something new. This will continue to be my motto in life,” said Mikhail Shaidorov.
He added:
“Friday the 13th is an unlucky number, but for us, now it’s golden. It’s a big, big medal, and it’s very meaningful. I’ve worked so much to get to this point, and I got here. That’s why it’s so meaningful.”
Mikhail Shaidorov’s win in Milan marked Kazakhstan’s first-ever gold medal in figure skating, and it was the country’s first Olympic gold medal in 32 years.
