Michigan Wrestling Star Manny Rojas Enters Transfer Portal For Final Season

Wrestling phenom Manny Rojas has entered the transfer portal for his final collegiate season. Rojas is entering as a grad transfer after being a No. 13 overall prospect in his class during his high school days.

The portal season has just begun, with enormous standout grad wrestlers in it already. Rojas stood out during his tenure with Detroit Catholic Central High School in Michigan. However, upon his arrival in Iowa, Rojas got to take part in only three dual starts, which haven’t handed him a secure position in the Cyclones’ lineup.

Rojas, at 165 lbs, has now entered the transfer portal with final eligibility remaining. He will get a chance to explore programs best suited to his needs and also help other university programs to add reasonable talents to their lineups.

Rojas showed potential in the limited opportunities during his 2022-23 season with a 13–3 record. In the most recent one, Rojas went 13-4, which handed him an overall resume of 45-15.

When Cary Kolat Spoke About the Impact of Transfer Portals

Wrestling legend and two-time NCAA champion Cary Kolat, back in 2024, spoke about how portals impact the wrestlers who did not enter via the scholarship or recommendational routes.

“I will say the the kids who have felt the biggest impact from portals, programs has been those Walk-Ons at the normal institutions where they’re paying their own way, they’re showing up in the morning, they break into the lineup And MayBE you allow them to be part of the team and those guys go off and do something in the business world and they always are the highest givers because they felt that the program changed their life and they were allowed to be part of a Brotherhood,” he said.

The transfer portal has already begun, and the updates on which wrestler has made it to what program will be rolling out in the coming hours and days.
