    On May 13, 2026, Sakamoto sat for her retirement press conference, where she dropped a bomb on her fans, revealing that she recently got married to her longtime boyfriend on May 5. When asked about her counterpart, she revealed that he is exactly the opposite personality and opened up about their bond.

She opened up about being inspired by her coaches, Sonoko Nakano and Mitsuko Graham, stating that she will continue training under them to pursue her career in coaching.

    “I want to become a coach like coach Nakano. “I still have a lot to learn in that regard, as I’m not yet fully mature, so I’m sure I’ll continue to learn from coach Nakano. I want to absorb those lessons thoroughly so that I can pass them on to the next generation,” said Kaori Sakamoto.

    Kaori Sakamoto has won four medals in her Olympic career, including three silver medals and one bronze medal.
