Team USA is geared up to compete at the highly anticipated 2026 Winter Olympics with its largest squad ever. This historic squad will be led by two flag bearers, Olympic champion speed skater Erin Jackson and bobsledder Frank Del Duca, at the opening ceremony of the Milano Cortina Games.
Jackson and Del Duca were chosen by Team USA athletes to represent the nation through a voting process. While Jackson will become the ninth speed skater in U.S. history to bear the flag, Duca will be the sixth bobsledder to bear the national flag at the Games. This will be the second time that the USA has chosen two flag bearers, both of whom are natives of Florida.
Jackson competed in her debut Games at the 2018 PyeongChang edition, a year after she stepped on the ice rink. She recorded history four years later at the 2022 Games in Beijing by earning a gold medal in the 500m. With this feat, she became the first Black woman to win an individual gold medal at a Winter Olympics. It also marked Team USA’s first women’s Olympic 500m title since 1994. She will be accompanied by US Army Sergeant Frank Del Duca as a flag bearer at the upcoming Winter Olympics opening ceremony.
Del Duca will be making his second appearance at the Winter Games. In the Beijing edition, he competed in two-man and four-man events. The opening ceremony will be held on Friday, February 6.
