Fans online were divided over Kennedy Blades’ recent show of her impressive skills on a journalist, attempting a dangerous move. Following Blades’ win at the debut edition of the NCAA Women’s Wrestling Championships, she has been appearing in interviews and media shows.
Recently, during an interview with Abby Hornacek for Fox News, Blades executed a suplex on the journalist, which means lifting the opponent and throwing them backward, making them land on their back, neck, or shoulders. Although the skill might look like a piece of art, it is regarded as one of the most dangerous maneuvers in wrestling and might lead to serious injuries like concussions, neck fractures, and spinal damage.
However, after a video shared by Fox News, a few fans praised the wrestler for landing the journalist safely, highlighting her remarkable skills.
“Doing this on a complete civilian and making them land without hurting them is a testament to how good she is,” a fan wrote.
“Impressive,” another fan added.“100% she has perfect technique,” one of the fans chimed in.
“No it shows how dumb she is. Yes her technique mitigated the risks of injury but untrained people don’t know to tuck their heads nor post their arms. Silly risk.” the fan expressed.
“Dude that lady could have had her neck broken or arm snapped if she posted an arm or looked the wrong way,” the fan opined.
“This angle ot looks like a great suplex,I saw the other angle forst and thought she killed the news lady,” a fan added.
Kennedy Blades’ Iowa Wrestling Teammate Kylie Welker Reflects On The Moment With The Former Ahead Of The Debut NCAA Women’s Wrestling Championships
Kennedy Blades and Kylie Welker headlined the 160lbs and 180 lbs at the inaugural edition of the NCAA Women’s Wrestling Championships, which was held on March 6 and 7, at Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa.
Both wrestlers earned the spot to compete in the tournament after winning the regional rounds. In an interview ahead of the Championships, Welker reflected on the surreal moment and highlighted the moment she realized their dream had come true.
“I’m just excited, and that still stands, but I don’t think it felt real until this past weekend at Regionals,” Welker said. “We all got NCAA trophies and me and Kennedy kind of had a moment. We just looked at it and were like, holy crap. Like, this is real. like, we are part of the NCAA. Like, I could have never…we literally just sat there and we are like, we could have never imagined or dreamed of this day, so the fact that we have come so far like, my junior year of high school, if you would have told me that I was going to be wrestling in an NCAA tournament, I would have told you were crazy, because like that wasn’t in the realm.”
