AJ Ferrari Gives College Commitment Update, Says He Wants to Pick the Same School as His Brother

Former NCAA champion wrestler AJ Ferrari has provided an update concerning his commitment to a program for his final season as a collegiate wrestler. The multiple-time All-American had entered the transfer portal after confirming that he had no interest in returning to Nebraska and is likely to find a new home for his final season. Ferrari is also reluctant to find a packaged deal to wrestle in the same school that his brothers are a part of.

AJ Ferrari has created a buzz within the collegiate wrestling arena through several notable endeavors, specifically relating to his outlandish wins on the mat but also through his antics outside the arena, which include his recent beef with Yonger Bastida, where Ferrari accused the Iowan of being under the influence of human growth hormone during their NCAA bout.

Ferrari has wrestled for Oklahoma State, Cal State Bakersfield, and Nebraska, and despite being grateful for his time at Lincoln, the Texas native confirmed that he has no intentions to sport the Huskers’ attire again and instead would want to wrestle alongside his brothers, while confirming that a commitment is already on its way:

“I enjoy wrestling. I enjoy Jiu-Jitsu. I enjoy the conditioning aspect, so most likely narrowed it down to ten to 20 schools. There were a lot of schools that reached out, but I’ll be commit in the next couple of weeks. Me and my brother, we’re trying to go to the same school. It’s very hard, but I really do want to be able to wrestle with my brothers. So we’ll see what happens; it’s too early to say. But definitely the next couple weeks we’re definitely commit.”

Ferrari’s brother, Angelo Ferrari, competes for the Iowa Hawkeyes athletics, while Anthony Ferrari has yet to finalize his commitment.

AJ Ferrari also highlighted how he is still dealing with the recovery phase of his recent injury that still makes him feel light. This setback has prevented him from lifting heavy, and as per this situation, the Texan confirmed that he would gauge the condition and possibly compete at 197 pounds, rather than bumping into the heavyweight division. He won his very best accolades while being within the 197-pound division and could replicate the same yet again.

Since the NCAA has a strict five-year calendar rule to compete, Ferrari would need a waiver from the governing body to extend his eligibility chances of stepping foot into another college wrestling mat.

AJ Ferrari Talks About Being Grateful for Emotional Support From Family and Faith

AJ Ferrari has frequently highlighted his family and faith as two important elements behind his success and has opened up about how much the Texan native is grateful for the support system around him while giving a general opinion of his take on the pride-filled mindset of today’s athletes:

“Be grateful for the people that helps you. I did not get here by myself. It was AJ senior, it was my mom, my sisters, my brothers, my uncle Randy, all my other family members, a lot of support from lot of good people and again through my faith,” said Ferrari (25:51).

He also mentioned how his faith in the Almighty has literally helped him to not identify his present with the past and vowed to live with clarity and purpose.
