Decorated Olympic gymnast Simone Biles has just come back from something so dark that she was compelled to let her fans know that she had just survived a terrifying medical emergency. While the Olympian has not shared the exact diagnosis of the illness, the gold-medalist had to indirectly break her personal sacred rule of keeping things private by posting a series of photos on her social media that depict her wearing medical wristbands.
Simone Biles has been known for being vocal about her physical and mental health throughout her professional career. The same has also worked for and against her on several occasions. Amid all this, Biles has always been strict about being private when it came to her personal medical matters but felt the urge to break that rule with a recent heart-stopping medical emergency.
It’s reported that Biles had to be hospitalized earlier this week due to an undisclosed medical emergency, which has kept her bedridden since and, as Biles said, “almost took her life.” Taking to her social media, Biles posted a story and wrote:
“I’m not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today’s age. But almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card earlier this week.”
After the news of her hospitalization, many speculated the reason behind her medical fallout, with one fan putting out a concerned tweet, asking the gymnast if the scare was due to “health, accident, or violence.” Biles quickly put aside the rumors and responded:
“health ❤️🩹”
She also said:
“I’ve been in bed resting this week, I’ll explain sooner or later but s/o to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited & or sent flowers.
Her husband, Jonathan Owens, was unfortunately at an NFL preseason practice with the Indianapolis Colts, which prevented him from being by her side, and this only heightened the anxiety inside the gymnast.
Biles, however, had also shared images of the enduring love and support that she has been receiving throughout the week from her well-wishers and has vowed to come back stronger from this.

Simone Biles is renowned for her gymnastic prowess and has already cemented herself as one of the greatest in modern gymnastics history. Despite all the success, Biles still clings to the idea of showing up for another Olympic event but has her doubts, as mentioned during an interview:
“I think we’re still at a 50/50, we’re still on a time crunch, it’s almost half of 2026, so we’re gonna have to make these decisions quickly.”
When asked about what conditions would prompt Biles to go to LA, she said:
“I think mental health plays a big role in it, because physically my coaches will get me in shape, I can get myself in shape and we believe in that ability and we’re really thankful for that ability, but mental is a huge thing and it’s a dedication on that because the road’s not easy.”
