New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is giving back to the community this offseason. The two-time Pro Bowler is hosting three football camps for youth athletes aged 6-16.
On Friday, a clip of Maye from his sold-out camp in Londonderry made headlines on social media. In the video, we see the Patriots quarterback get intercepted while attempting a pass downfield.
Fans on social media mocked Drake Maye for the interception and questioned his ability to lead the Patriots in the upcoming season.
The Patriots drafted Drake Maye with the No. 3 pick in 2024. During his debut campaign, he initially served as the backup to Jacoby Brissett before being named the QB1. In 13 games, he recorded 2,276 yards and 15 TDs passing.
However, the Patriots finished with a disappointing 4-13 record. Coach Jerod Mayo was fired, and Mike Vrabel was brought in as his replacement.
Last season, the team improved following an underwhelming 2024 campaign. Under Vrabel’s guidance, Maye helped the team make the playoffs as the AFC East champions. They went on to defeat the Broncos to be crowned the conference champions.
However, the Patriots could not end the season with a Lombardi Trophy. They suffered a 29-13 loss at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX. Drake Maye finished the season with 4,394 yards and 31 TDs passing.
Drake Maye shares his thoughts on playing alongside A.J. Brown in 2026
The Patriots bolstered the offensive room this offseason. Last month, they traded two draft picks to the Eagles for wide receiver A.J. Brown.
On Thursday, Drake Maye shared his thoughts on working out with Brown and building chemistry with him this offseason.
“It has been awesome,” Maye said. “So I’m looking really good forward to playing with him. I’m looking forward to actually getting into camp and then build some chemistry. I know there’s already something there for me.
“Just got to throw it near him and he’ll make a play. He is a great teammate. He’s been great so far and he loves the wind. So, we can share that.”
The Patriots will face the Seahawks in their season opener on the road on Sept. 9.
