As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare for their upcoming Organized Team Activities (OTAs) in a couple of weeks, the voluntary sessions will not feature their star WR Rashee Rice following another run-in with the law agencies.
As per reports from KSHB41’s Matt Foster, Rice is all set to serve a 30-day jail sentence after reportedly testing positive for marijuana, which is in violation of his probation terms following his infamous 2024 highway crash incident.
After crashing and subsequently injuring multiple people at the hands of his Lamborghini Urus, Rashee Rice was sentenced to 30 days in jail along with a five-year probationary period a couple of years ago. Having pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony accounts, Rice was also suspended from the NFL for a total of six games.
Rice’s 30-day jail term means that the WR will now miss the Chiefs’ OT camp scheduled to take place on May 26-28 and June 1-3, whilst also being absent during the side’s mandatory minicamp scheduled to be held from June 9 to 11.
How Has Rashee Rice Fared In The NFL So Far?
Having been with the franchise since 2023, the last couple of seasons haven’t been a smooth ride for the wideout given his legal troubles combined with a knee injury.
After completing a fairly successful debut season in 2023, Rice has only featured for his side in a total of 12 games in the last two seasons, with eight of them coming last season.
Throughout the course of his NFL career, Rice has thrown for a total of 1797 yards while also scoring 14 touchdowns.
While it remains to be seen if Rice can put his past legal troubles behind him and start the new season afresh, flouting rules could very well hamper his first-team selection chances if the Kansas-based franchise decides to take disciplinary action.
