While the pick has been heavily criticized by the fans, Ty Simpson offers much needed assurity at the QB position for the LA Rams. Matthew Stafford, who will be stepping into his 18th season in the NFL, has already shown injury concerns.
The 38-year-old has previously missed games with a spinal cord bruise, hip strains, and, most recently, aggravated his vertebral disc, missing some time during the 2025 training camp.
Moreover, there were rumors of the SB champ retiring at the end of last season. However, Stafford put an end to the chatter by announcing his return during his 2025 NFL MVP speech. With Stetson Bennett rarely featuring for the Rams, this pick cements the notion of Sean McVay not seeing the former Georgia QB as a fit to take over signal-calling for the Rams.
Ty Simpson will now have the opportunity to follow in Jordan Love’s footsteps as the latter sat behind Aaron Rodgers for two seasons before taking full command and becoming the face of Matt LaFleur’s offense.
