Trey Benson seems to be one week away from returning to the starting lineup of the Arizona Cardinals. The running back suffered a knee injury during the Cardinals’ Week 4 loss (20-23) against the Seattle Seahawks, and while he managed to play through the injury, he had some soreness the following day.

The Cardinals released Michael Carter this week, and Trey Benson is one week away from a potential return… Which opens the door for Zonovan “Bam” Knight this week.

He had to undergo arthroscopic surgery to repair the damage, and has been out of the lineup for more than a month now. It was expected that he would be on the injured reserve for four to six weeks, meaning Week 9 as the earliest possible return.
However, he remains on the injured reserve, and Week 10 will be his first opportunity to return if he’s activated next week.
How Trey Benson’s Injury Impacts the Cardinals’ Offense?
Benson’s injury means that backups Bam Knight and Emari Demercado will have another chance to shine in the starting lineup. However, it also means that the Arizona Cardinals remain rather thin and without much experience at the position, as James Conner is still on the IR list.
Benson remains the second-best rusher for the Cardinals, despite having been out for more than a month, with only quarterback Kyler Murray (also injured) having recorded more rushing yards this season.
Arizona is in the bottom half of the league when it comes to rushing yards, and Benson’s return could certainly help. The fact that an injured player is the top runner for the Cardinals tells you everything you need to know about their backfield.
Fantasy Impact: Should You Stash or Drop Trey Benson?
Stash him. It seems he could definitely return in the next couple of weeks. Before injuring himself in Week 4, he was performing pretty well. Don’t expect him to be available this week, as he’s still on the IR list.
