Travis Hunter was considered one of the best rookie players in the 2025 NFL season after he was picked by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2026 NFL Draft as the No.2 overall pick.
The former Colorado player was among the best players in his final season of college football and even won a Heisman Trophy in that year, with his ability to play on both sides of the ball as one of his major talking points.
Hunter began his NFL career on a high note but got injured halfway through the season, after which many analysts advised him not to continue playing as a two-way player.
After the NFL insider, Ian Rapoport, claimed that Hunter is going to play as a full-time cornerback in the 2026 season, Travis Hunter took to X and questioned his sources.
“Y’all don’t see the big picture. I bet this dude won the heisman bc him or Deion were complaining just like he’s doing in this post. This dude is a bust so far. Jeanty should’ve won that heisman. We wouldn’t even be talking about this otherwise.” One fan reacted.
“Brother i love ur game but u got hurt half way through the season the way u want to play isnt sustainable jus play full time corner and have some reps at wr or have ur way and ur jus gonna get hurt again bro.” Another fan said.
“I hope someone who is wrong. You showed in London and flashed in season – when you got targets- ceiling is sky high for you at WR. You’re 1 of 1 on team with what you can do at WR. And team needs that.” another fan added.
”I don’t want to see you do both, focus on one, I’d prefer we cause you move like a snake, great body control, but hey db is fine too, but you don’t seem to physical (tackling).” another fan said.
“N***a you gonna be a full time corner whether you like it or not go lock some sh*t up boy.” Another fan predicted.
“Dont force it bruh, be a all pro CB and part time wr is great career lol no reason to try and play both sides all the time u gon shorten ur career.” Another fan advised.
Jason Whitlock Blamed Deion Sanders for Travis Hunter’s Injuries
Jason Whitlock has been a vocal critic of Deion Sanders ever since he joined the Colorado Buffaloes as their head coach.
When Travis Hunter suffered a season-ending injury in October last year, he tore his LCL (lateral collateral ligament) in the right knee during a practice with the Jaguars, for which he had to undergo surgery.
Whitlock was quick to target Sanders as the reason for Hunter’s difficulties and said that his injury is a result of the mismanagement he faced during his time in Colorado.
”Deion Sanders never once considered what was best for Travis Hunter. Never once.” Whitlock wrote.
The analyst further pointed out if Nick Saban treated Hunter as a “rented mule,” everyone would see Sanders’ doings.
