Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel reignited his feud with the franchise after responding to criticism from ESPN Cleveland radio host Tony Rizzo.
It all started after Rizzo, on his radio show, questioned why Manziel continues to hold resentment toward the Browns more than a decade after his brief NFL career ended.
“What did anyone do to you, except root for you to win?” he asked during the segment.
That question prompted a response from Manziel on X, which he later deleted.
“Rizz, you stupid [expletive],” Manziel wrote. “These comments were made in October of last year but of course you bored [expletive] in the Cleveland media have nothing to speak about because your quarterback stopped banging massage therapists and you can only speak about losing so much to all of the people that listen to this trash [expletive] show.”
Manziel then argued that the failures in Cleveland extended well beyond his own performances.
“My tenure in Cleveland was doomed by a lot more people than just me. I’ve taken plenty of responsibility for my failures in that building and in that city. Tom Brady couldn’t have won with our roster from 2015. Just move on, [expletive] off and leave me out of this [expletive].”
ESPN Host Tony Rizzo Criticizes Johnny Manziel
Tony Rizzo questioned Johnny Manziel’s resentment toward the Browns, asking what the team ever did to him other than root for his success.
“What did anyone do for you except root for you to win? And when it went south? Okay, that’s how it goes as Baker. But what did someone hurt him? Was he a jilted lover? Is there some so? Did I miss? Was there an incident where somebody attacked him? Did he wouldnt what went so? Why why they hate why they hate for the team to drafted you? Why? I can’t answer that for him. I don’t know, i don’t know. I mean, maybe he thinks they didn’t put him in a good position to win or build the team around him. But also he’s the guy who didn’t put in any work while he was here, he was the guy that would leave after a Monday practice to go party.” He said.
Meanwhile, Manziel’s own reference to Brady shows us just how often the former Patriots quarterback remains the benchmark for NFL greatness.
