NFL analyst Skip Bayless shared a hot take against his precious Dallas Cowboys’ owner and general manager, Jerry Jones. The Cowboys are one of the most successful NFL franchises, but they have not won a Super Bowl in the 21st century. Despite this, Jones has remained the operational face of the franchise.
In his latest rant against Jones on the Underdog segment, Bayless thinks Jones would have been ousted long before had he been just a general manager of an NFL team. He underscored how the Cowboys have been unable to win a Super Bowl in the last 30 years, mainly because they have not been able to find the right quarterback.
“I look at the last 30 years,” Bayless said. “And given the fact that we are still America’s team, and we are still the most valuable sports team in the entire world, and the most watched team in the National Football League, I give Jerry Jones, for the last 30 years, a flat out F, as in flunk, as in fail.”
Bayless continued, highlighting how Bayless got lucky to land Troy Aikman first overall in the 1989 NFL draft. The quarterback led the Cowboys to three Super Bowl victories. He compared the stints of Tony Romo and Dak Prescott, who have managed to do well in the regular season but haven’t lived up to expectations when it comes to the postseason. He blatantly predicted that Prescott would not be able to take the Cowboys to promise land just like Romo once couldn’t.
“If I look at 30 years body of work, if Jerry had just been some other owner’s general manager, he would have been fired 20 years ago, right?” Bayless said. “He just would have. He would have 10 years after Troy Aikman, and it’d be like, nah, you’re gone. That’s what would have happened. I don’t know. I see 30 years body of work. I know as a GM, you want to win. I see wins. I see 13 playoff appearances. Eight division titles. I see eight playoff wins. No conference championship games, but also.
“Wait, how many playoff wins? Five. Five. It’s five. OK, it’s five and 13. Five and 13 in the last 29 years. I get it. I get it. OK, and think about this. 11 times in 29 years, they made the playoffs. That means 18 times they missed the playoffs over the last 29 years. 18 times they missed. OK. I get it. As a GM, I want to put together rosters that can win. But first, I got to put together rosters. I got to bring in good talent. That’s my job as a GM, right?”
Skip Bayless Makes Super Bowl Prediction, And It’s Not Cowboys Pick
Skip Bayless recently made his Super Bowl prediction. For those thinking he’ll pick his favorite, the Cowboys, they are wrong. Bayless has instead gone with the Buffalo Bills, who changed their head coach and head into the new season with a lot of promises.
“Not only do I pick them to get there, I pick them to win it,” Bayless said. “It just feels like it’s going to be their year because I like Joe Brady. And I like the new energy he’s going to bring as the head coach. Because Sean McDermott was just boring to me. And I think he’s a boring pregame speech giver. And he was solid but boring. And they needed new offensive energy. And now Joe Brady’s at the controls of the whole football team. And I’m with you.”
With the 2026 season still far away, Bayless’ prediction has came too early.
