“Easiest Road Ever”: Skip Bayless Calls Out Patriots Easy Schedule To AFC Championship Matchup After Texans Win

A renowned sports analyst is discrediting the New England Patriots’ recent postseason victory, as he is deeming their schedule leading up to it as easier than others. On Sunday, Jan. 18, coach Mike Vrabel and his 2025-26 Patriots went up against coach DeMeco Ryans’ Houston Texans for their AFC Divisional Playoffs game this year in the former’s home pitch, the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

As the highly-anticipated matchup was nearing its end, however, American sports columnist and TV personality Skip Bayless put the Patriots on blast on his X/Twitter. This is because the 74-year-old believes that New England had a tremendously easy path to where they stand now in the 2025-26 NFL Playoffs. He even mentioned players such as Los Angeles Chargers’ Justin Herbert and Seattle Seahawks’ Sam Darnold, with whom he’s been critical.

“So the combined records of every team the Patriots beat in the regular season were 85-150. Now their path to a Super Bowl championship has been Justin Herbert, CJ Stroud, Jarrett Stidham…And very possibly Sam Darnold. EASIEST ROAD EVER,” Bayless asserted.

The New England-based franchise eventually defeated the Texans by 12 points, 28-16, to advance to this year’s AFC championship game. With the victory, the Patriots set up a meeting against the winners of the other AFC Divisional Playoffs game victor, coach Sean Payton’s Denver Broncos, on Sunday, Jan. 25, in the latter’s home pitch, the Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado.

Skip Bayless Also Said That Two Of The Houston Texans’ Five Turnovers Costed Them The Postseason Win

In a later post to this X/Twitter account, Skip Bayless also claimed that two of the Houston Texans’ five turnovers were what cost the team to lose to the New England Patriots. According to Bayless, had the Texans recovered their two turnovers in the first and second quarters, they may very well have won the game and continued on with their postseason run. Houston concludes the year with an overall record of 12-5.
