The New England Patriots of Stefon Diggs and Drake Maye advanced to the AFC championship game. The Patriots comfortably defeated the Houston Texans, 26-16, at Gillette Stadium this Sunday afternoon. Stefon Diggs was one of the key targets for Maye during the Divisional round game, with 40 receiving yards and, critically, a touchdown reception that allowed New England to leap forward 21-10 three minutes before the end of the first half of the game.

Someone incredibly happy to celebrate the critical score was Digg’s partner and the mother of his child, Grammy Award winner Cardi B. Although she wasn’t at the stadium, she seemed to have been following the encounter closely. Shortly after the touchdown, she posted a short video to her Instagram story in which she emphatically said:
“Welcome down, welcome down. In the name of Jesus, welcome down…” said Cardi B yelling.
She appears to have been traveling, as the video shows a car window with precipitation outside (possibly snow or rain). The rapper looked incredibly happy as she yelled full force, celebrating Stefon Diggs’s achievement.
Stefon Diggs’s Impending Legal Troubles
While Stefon Diggs is participating in the NFL Playoffs with the New England Patriots, a likely part of his attention is set on the future. The wide receiver faces impending legal issues when the postseason ends, having been charged with felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery last December.
“Stefon Diggs categorically denies these allegations. They are unsubstantiated, uncorroborated, and were never investigated — because they did not occur,” David Meier, Diggs’s attorney, said in December. “The timing and motivation for making the allegations is crystal clear: they are the direct result of an employee-employer financial dispute that was not resolved to the employee’s satisfaction. Stefon looks forward to establishing the truth in a court of law.”
The judge of the case postponed his arraignment until after the Super Bowl, ostensibly to not disrupt his life. Diggs faces these charges for allegedly assaulting and attempting to suffocate a female private chef who worked for him. The incident allegedly took place at his house in Dedham, Massachusetts, after the individual demanded Diggs pay her salary, which she states was overdue.
The Patriots star denies the allegations. This isn’t his only legal trouble, as reports point out that a court-mandated DNA test confirmed that he’s the father of a child with influencer Aileen Lopera. Lopera sued him for paternity, a lawsuit he will now likely lose.
