Shedeur Sanders has hardly spent a year in the NFL and is already one of the most polarizing figures in the sport today.
Most of it comes from his rich legacy, with the legendary Deion Sanders drawing attention to Shedeur as he battles to carve out his own path without the influence of his father, but the jury is still very much out on whether he deserves to be QB1 just yet.
And one of the individuals who certainly isn’t backing him this season is Rashad McCants, who may be known for his time in NBA, but isn’t afraid to speak his mind on the NFL either, now claiming that Shedeur should take a back seat at Cleveland.
“Deshaun Watson is the better quarterback,” McCants said.
“And it ain’t like you’re the perfect quarterback. That’s his dad’s energy that’s been following him. He’s not with him now. It’s nostalgia bro. It’s a storyline. It’s like Bronny James coming in the game bro. You guys are giving him the same energy that he has to produce at the same level as his dad but he doesn’t have that.”
McCants Faces Opposition on Panel
The Arena: Gridiron panel appeared to disagree with Rashad McCants, suggesting that Shedeur needed an opportunity and run as the QB1 at Cleveland to prove himself.
While there was a general agreement that Sanders could be better, only McCants pushed heavily for Watson to ascend, suggesting this could be an interesting rivalry as the new season begins.
