Miami Hurricanes defensive end Rueben Bain Jr. is one of the top prospects and defensive players entering the 2026 NFL Draft. The ACC Defensive Player of the Year from last season is expected to be a top-10, potentially a top-five pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
One concern heading into the combine about Bain Jr. is his short arms.
Today, Bain Jr.’s combine measurements were released. Bain is listed as 6-foot-2 inches, 263 pounds, and has an arm length of 30 7/8. His wing span is 77-and-a-half inches.
While Bain Jr. does have shorter arms compared to most elite edge rushers/defensive ends, he said that no team that he’s interviews with at the combine has mentioned that. Instead, they’ve all talked about his play instead.
Bain Jr. told ESPN:
“People keep bringing that up out of nowhere, but no teams brought it up to me, so I don’t bring it up either,” said Bain Jr. “As long as I just talk the talk and walk the walk, play with technique, nobody actually cares about it.”
Rueben Bain Jr. Measurements Compared to Top EDGE Prospects
Rueben Bain Jr. isn’t the only recent prospect that was criticized entering the NFL Draft. Just last season, offensive tackle Will Campbell was criticized entering the draft for having short arms, measuring at 32 5/8 inches. Still, he was selected fourth-overall in last year’s draft.
With his arm length being a concern, other notable pass rushers in recent drafts have either been much longer, or near his arm length. Micah Parsons‘ arm length measured at 31 1/3 inches and Aidan Hutchinson measured at 32 1/8 inches. TJ Watt and Myles Garrett measured a little higher at 33 1/8 and 35 1/4 inches respectively.
Time will tell if teams are concerned about Bain Jr.’s short arm length. If he is picked in the top-10 stlll which is the expectation, it would show that teams weren’t too concerned by his arm length.
