The drama surrounding the firing of Ryan Clark from ESPN continues after the former NFL Live host was fired during a commercial break at the middle of his own show. Clark has since come out and blasted both ESPN and the Fox News-owned media outlet, OutKick, during The Pivot podcast following his firing in an emotional interview where he was in tears. However, not everybody is feeling sorry for him.
During the Speakeasy podcast, former Buffalo Bills star LeSean McCoy said that he believes that Clark was just acting out for attention and clicks during that emotional outburst he had.
“My theory is I just don’t know how real this is,” he said.
“Imagine we got fired from Fox and they did all this though, you gonna start crying and all that and I start cryin with you,” he added. “Like come on, it’s all part of the game!”
There has been some controversy regarding Ryan Clark’s firing as it was announced ahead of a big round of layoffs at ESPN. Reports indicated that him being one of those getting fired got leaked, so rather than Clark finding out through the news, ESPN revealed it to him at the middle of his show. The outlet that the news of Clark’s firing was reportedly leaked to was OutKick, which has seemingly been very critical of Clark.
Ryan Clark Believes ESPN and OutKick Cooperated To Spin His Ouster In a Positive Light
Clark and OutKick have not gotten along well, and this came to a head when the outlet focused on him after reportedly sharing inaccurate information regarding LSU’s Kyren Lacy’s car crash last fall. OutKick had praised Scott Van Pelt and Pat McAfee for apologizing after giving that false information, but Clark did not, only to apologize later on.
When ESPN fired him, he accused his former employer of leaking the news to OutKick.
“I was just seeing the narrative that was being pushed and seeing the way it was going and then even that much like what happened with Outkick with my firing, they leaked that video and and and when they showing me this video. It’s the video from the control room.” (27:16)
He blasted ESPN for how they handled his firing during that same podcast appearance and said that they knowingly leaked it to an outlet that did not like him.
