The Philadelphia Eagles might have been the No. 3 seed, but they had one of the worst offenses in the league, as the team struggled to score a lot of points throughout the season. Many were pinning the blame on offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, as the team struggled to pick up steam in that low-scoring loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
The loss eliminated the Eagles from the playoffs, just one year removed from winning the Super Bowl. After the game, head coach Nick Sirriani took questions from reporters, with him being asked about Patullo’s future with the team, and the head coach did not give much at all, giving a vague answer.
“There will be time to evaluate everybody’s performance,” he told reporters. “Right now, I feel for all our guys in the locker room, all the players, all the coaches, the front office, everybody that works so hard, the fans that come out and support us, Mr. Lurie. I feel for all of us, all of them, and there’ll be time to evaluate everything coming up.”
Several Eagles Players Still Defended Kevin Patullo After Loss vs. 49ers
It was a dismal game for the Philadelphia Eagles offensively. While their defense was good, they could not get going on their offense, only scoring six points and failing to score a touchdown in the second half. However, several players still defended the embattled OC, Kevin Patullo.
One of them is left guard Landon Dickerson.
“Kevin’s been great,” he said. “I mean, he’s been with us for five years now. I think he’s done a tremendous job. Obviously, it’s kind of the first time he’s been put in this position, but I think he handled it extremely well, and it’s all about growing and getting better.”
The Eagles have gone through four offensive coordinators for the last four seasons, with the first two leaving to become head coaches themselves, while the other was fired. Patullo could be next, but that is all up to the Eagles organization on whether he should go or not. For now, with fans calling for his head, the Eagles’ OC is certainly in the hot seat at the moment.
