At the end of every regular season cycle, several coaches get fired. The Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens, and others fired their respective head coaches. So, there was nothing irregular about that this season.
However, seeing the likes of John Harbaugh and Mike Tomlin lose their jobs was rare, and that makes the current cycle slightly different. Long-term coaches, who have served for decades with one franchise, don’t always end up on the market.
Harbaugh joined the Baltimore Ravens in 2008. He had a 193-124 overall record with the Ravens. But at the end of the season, the Baltimore franchise decided it was time to part ways with the Super Bowl-winning coach.
Coaches like Harbaugh don’t stay on the market for long. He was fired on January 6 and immediately became a target for several teams looking for a new head coach. It took Harbaugh less than 10 days to land a new job. He joined the New York Giants on January 14.
But the same can’t be said about every team. Here’s a complete list of teams still looking for a new head coach and a list of coaches who are still available.
NFL Teams Looking for Head Coach
- Baltimore Ravens
- Cleveland Browns
- Pittsburgh Steelers
- Tennessee Titans
- Arizona Cardinals
- Atlanta Falcons
- Las Vegas Raiders
- Miami Dolphins
Harbaugh joining the Giants has been the only successful head coaching search so far this year. Although finding a coach of his caliber isn’t easy, there are plenty of great options still available for the teams still on the search.
Brian Daboll, who was fired by the Giants, is still available. Falcons’ Raheem Morris, Browns’ Kevin Stefanski, Dolphins’ Mike McDaniel, and others are actively looking for their next destination.
Here’s a complete list of coaches who were fired during or after the 2025-26 regular season.
- Brian Callahan, Titans
- Brian Daboll, Giants
- Raheem Morris, Falcons
- Kevin Stefanski, Browns
- Pete Carroll, Raiders
- Jonathan Gannon, Cardinals
- John Harbaugh, Ravens
- Mike McDaniel, Dolphins
Tomlin is an exception on this list because he wasn’t fired by the Steelers. He joined the Steelers in 2007 as a first-time head coach with prior experience coaching several positions.
Two years later, he led the franchise to its sixth overall Super Bowl win. Tomlin stayed with the Steelers until 2025, and after the playoff struggles, he decided to resign and step down from his position.
