The NFL bye weeks are one of the many reasons fans and players tend to complain about the schedule. While some teams get the perfect time of year, others get stuck with an earlier or later time than desired.
Some teams are refreshed coming off a well-timed bye, while other teams have its momentum ruined early in the year and find themselves exhausted by the end of the season. Having a quality bye could be the difference between winning and losing. Here’s a look at the full list of bye weeks, including each of the 32 NFL teams, via NFL media.
Keep in mind, teams don’t receive bye weeks before Week 5 or after Week 14.
Early NFL Bye Weeks
The Chiefs and Panthers won’t have to wait long, getting a quick break shortly after the beginning of the season. However, teams like the Texans, Saints, Giants and 49ers will get extra time to make a move at the trade deadline and ease in the new player.
- Week 5: Carolina Panthers, Kansas City Chiefs
- Week 6: Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings

Late NFL Bye Weeks
Teams will be encouraged to make the most of its late-August break, because these teams won’t see a break in the action until the weather starts to turn.
The Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys will need to wait until three and a half months into the season to get its bye week, while the biggest bye week of the year will be in Week 11 with six teams on bye.
- Week 10: Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Teams that finish with the No. 1 seed will earn a bye week on Wild Card Weekend. Upon clinching their berth, usually in Week 17 or Week 18, teams will know whether they qualify.
