Global pop star Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce reportedly invited approximately 1,000 guests to their wedding at Madison Square Garden on Friday. However, for the same reason, she faced heat from media personality Megyn Kelly.
On Monday, Kelly appeared on the Piers Morgan Uncensored show and took aim at the Blank Space singer. The host of The Megyn Kelly Show claimed that Swift must be lonely, as there is no way the couple could have an intimate connection with all 1,000 guests.
“I mean, I may shock you, but I feel sorry for Taylor Swift,” Kelly said. “I really think she’s empty inside. I think most people who seek fame at a very early age, like in their teens, are chasing after some sort of fullness that wasn’t provided by their family of origin, for whatever reason. And it never comes. It’s a lifelong pursuit, because fame and money, adoration from strangers, does not fill that void. Only you, God, and your immediate loved ones can. Who has a thousand-person wedding?”
Kelly was surprised to find celebrities like Oprah and Steven Spielberg on the wedding guest list. She didn’t think either of these personalities had any close connection with the couple.
“And then we look at the guest list. Oprah? Really? Steven Spielberg? Those two are super close to Steven Spielberg? I don’t believe that for one second,” Kelly continued.
Kelly then reflected on her own wedding with Douglas Brunt in 2008. The couple hardly invited 125-130 guests, but all were intimate connections, per Kelly.
Megyn Kelly Questions Blake Lively Being Snubbed From Taylor Swift’s and Travis Kelce’s Wedding
One of the most notable snubs at the wedding was Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, who were reportedly absent from the July 3 Madison Square Garden wedding despite previously being among Swift’s closest celebrity friends.
The speculation is that Swift no longer trusts Lively after the singer was dragged into the Lively-Justin Baldoni dispute, and therefore, she didn’t invite her to the wedding. Megyn Kelly also spoke about this, raising questions about why Lively was not invited.
“They used to be very tight,” Kelly said. “Of course, they had the falling out over the Baldoni lawsuit. And Blake’s texts referring to Taylor as her dragon, as though Taylor Swift is just some serf to Blake Lively, the real queen of Hollywood, like, she’ll do what I tell her, is really what she’s saying. She behaves as directed. I’m the Khaleesi; she’s the dragon. That is ridiculous in its delusion.”
In the above-mentioned dispute, Swift was subpoenaed, and private text messages between her and Lively surfaced during the litigation. Though the Blank Space singer was later dropped from the case and did not need to depose, many believe that this damaged her relationship with Lively.
However, it’s important to note that neither Lively nor Swift has commented on their current relationship.
