Former Probowler and San Diego Chargers defensive lineman Marcellus Wiley is facing not just a divorce, but also some legal trouble over alleged domestic abuse issues. He was arrested after an altercation with his wife, former reality show star Annemarie Wiley, inside their hotel room in Orlando. This incident has also increased the scrutiny over his past sexual assault accusations from multiple women over the years, from his playing days to his ESPN days.
Despite the accusation from his wife, Marcellus Wiley did find himself an ally in Jason Whitlock, though it should be noted that Whitlock does have a history of misogynistic comments. The controversial sports personality stated that Wiley should have avoided arguing with his wife.
“If you have a woman that you have to argue with constantly, or even sporadically. If she needs you to get loud in order for her to submit to your authority, leadership and guidance, hit the eject button,” he said. “You have to fast, and part of my fasting process is I don’t argue with women, it’s way too dangerous.”
Annemarie Wiley claimed in the police report that “Marcellus told [her] he was going to kill her and she was afraid of his behavior.” She has now filed for divorce and claimed that he “had an unreported history of violence toward her and she was planning to divorce him when they returned home to California.”
As for Marcellus Wiley’s history of sexual assault, it dates back to his college days at Columbia in the mid-1990s. After he retired as a player, he worked at ESPN, and another ESPN employee claimed that he had also assaulted her. Much like the incident with his wife, he denied the accusations.

Marcellus Wiley also spoke with deputies after the incident, and he denied that he was ever violent with her. In the police report, it stated that Wiley “believed his wife had called deputies to make a report due to her intention to divorce him.” He added that he was justdomes taking care of their children and that no act of violence had even happened.
This still led the deputies to arrest the former linebacker after determining that there was probable cause for domestic assault, with him getting booked soon after. He was assigned a public defender as well.
