There were certainly some eyebrows raised when Ty Simpson went 13th overall and was selected by the Los Angeles Rams, but perhaps one can understand it.
After all, the top quarterback at the Rams is Matthew Stafford, who is now 38 and isn’t getting any younger. A couple of years under the Stafford learning tree could do wonders for a rookie QB like Simpson.
That is, of course, if Stafford decides he wants anything to do with someone who will undoubtedly be looked at as competition for the Rams’ QB1. And this has never been more apparent than when Simpson appeared to suggest he hasn’t received much advice from Stafford just yet.
What stood out from the statement, however, was the interest shown by Stafford’s wife, Kelly Hall, who no doubt has the right intentions, but few fans seem to be feeling that way.
Kelly Hall Admitted Dating Stafford’s Backup in College
The awkward moment is compounded when you consider that Kelly herself admitted that she dated one of Stafford’s backup QBs in college when she was a cheerleader while he was playing at the University of Georgia.
If she did it to get Stafford’s attention, it certainly paid off.
“I dated the backup to p— him off, which worked – he was the bad boy too,” Kelly revealed on a podcast. “Matthew’s so sweet and a Southern gentleman and all that stuff. And the backup was the complete opposite, and it upset him.”
Hopefully, no such shenanigans take place at the Rams.
