Marcus Mariota Injury Update: What Happened to Commanders QB?

The Washington Commanders encountered an anxious moment in their Week 11 matchup against the Miami Dolphins when quarterback Marcus Mariota suffered an injury in the third quarter. The veteran signal caller was injured and had to leave the game after appearing shaken up following a play that nearly resulted in a safety.

Before the injury, Mariota had played well and completed 16 out of 22 passes thrown for 160 yards and a touchdown. He also had 5 rushing yards on three carries. The game’s currently in the balance as the Dolphins and the Commanders are neck to neck so far in the fixture, with a scoreline of 13-13 with less than nine minutes left in the fourth quarter.

    What Happened to Marcus Mariota?

The injury happened on a second-down play when Mariota narrowly avoided being sacked in the end zone. Following that, the quarterback was seen sitting on the field, and He eventually limped to the sideline.

He was spotted with his helmet still on, suggesting there might be a possibility of returning to action. Shortly afterwards, Mariota entered the blue medical tent for further checks.

The exact nature of Mariota’s injury remains unclear at the time.

Third-string quarterback Josh Johnson immediately entered the game to take over duties for the Commanders

    Marcus Mariota Backup QB

With Jayden Daniels listed as inactive on the Commanders’ QB depth chart, the Commanders were already operating without their primary QB.

The injury to their second-string quarterback Mariota, has forced them to call upon their 39-year-old veteran quarterback, Josh Johnson.

Johnson is Washington’s designated no. 3 quarterback, and if Mariota’s injury snowballs into something massive, there is a very good chance we might get to see more of Johnson for the remainder of the season.
