Malik Nabers Injury Update: Giants Star Undergoes Second Surgery in Offseason

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers underwent a second knee surgery recently to remove scar tissue, according to The Athletic’s Dan Duggan. The procedure was meant to remove stifeness, and he remains on the same recovery timeline as before.

Nabers is currently recovering from a torn ACL and meniscus injury he suffered in Week 4 of the NFL 2025 season during a victory against the Los Angeles Chargers at MetLife Stadium. The wide receiver is still expected to be ready for the 2026 season opener.

In what little he was able to play of the season, Malik Nabers recorded 18 receptions, with 271 yards, and two touchdown catches. In his rookie season in 2024, he had 1204 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns.

Malik Nabers still expected to be ready for Week 1 of the NFL season

This new reports comes days after ESPN’s Jordan Raanan‘s own report, that the player seems to be on track to become available in the opening week of the upcoming season:

“Malik Nabers’ injury is something we’ve got to keep a very close eye on,” Raanan said last Thursday. “The more I hear, the more I’m like, ‘Alright, Week 1 seems like that’s in serious question. We’ll have to monitor that all summer. Let’s see how that goes.’

However, it’s also important to point out that Raanan doesn’t expect him to come back in full force, and he said that the wide receiver could be limited for the first four to six weeks of the season:

“And even then, let’s be fair, he’s coming back from a pretty serious injury. We can’t expect him to come back and be playing at Malik Nabers’ top level right away. It’s probably gonna take him time. I’m starting to think that we might not see the best of Malik Nabers until four or six weeks into the season, maybe, at best.”

ACL injuries typically require no more than nine months to make a full recovery, although Nabers has the added complication of the meniscus.
