After a second straight first round playoff exit, the Los Angeles Chargers have fired offensive coordinator Greg Roman.
Roman has been the Chargers’ offensive coordinator in each of the last two seasons. In back-to-back seasons, his offenses have struggled in the playoffs, scoring a combined 15 points in both games.
Roman has been the offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, and San Francisco 49ers. The Chargers also fired offensive line coach Mike Devlin.
With Roman gone, the Chargers face the task of entering the offseason searching for his replacement.
Top 3 Offensive Coordinators To Replace Greg Roman
#1- Kilff Kingsbury
Kliff Kingsbury made his return back to the NFL, serving as an offensive coordinator last season for the Washington Commanders. After an injury-riddled season, specifically on offense, Kingsbury was let go in a surprise fire move. If he doesn’t get a head coaching job this offseason he would be one of the hottest offensive coordinators out there and could help develop Justin Herbert into a playoff-winning quarterback.
#2- Mike McDaniel
Mike McDaniel could generate interest as a head coach during this cycle, but if he doesn’t land a head coaching gig, he will very likely end up as an offensive coordinator. McDaniel’s Miami offenses flourished in his first few seasons as head coach as he’s been able to help produce the likes of Jaylen Waddle, De’Von Achane, and had some of Tyreek Hill’s most productive seasons. McDaniel made a name for himself prior to his Miami stint, as an OC for the San Francisco 49ers.
#3- John Harbaugh
This one’s a wild card, but don’t rule out John Harbaugh joining his brother Jim on his coaching staff. John was recently fired by the Baltimore Ravens after serving as 18 years as their head coach. He brings knowledge, chemistry, and a Super Bowl-winning attitude to LA if we were to join his brother’s coaching staff.
