It’s been quite the offseason for New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo, who has recently gone viral regarding a controversial take on CTE.
Making a recent appearance on the “Bring the Juice Podcast” hosted by Frank Dalena, Skattebo was asked if he thinks CTE is a real thing for NFL players to which he replied it’s an excuse. Skattebo continued to raise eyebrows by saying that asthma is also an excuse.
Skattebo has been taking some heat by fans following his comments on CTE not being a real thing. Many players in the NFL have suffered the consequences of CTE later in their lives, and it’s played a big factor in multiple players’ deaths (Aaron Hernandez, Junior Seau.) The bad thing about the disease is it can’t be detected until until after a person’s death through a neuropathological autopsy.
Cam Skattebo Was A Big Part In New York’s Offense Last Season
If Cam Skattebo can pick up where he left off last season he will be in line for a big sophomore season with the New York Giants this fall.
Skattebo was drafted in the fourth-round of the 2025 NFL Draft, but quickly became the Giants’ lead back. He rushed for 45 yards and a touchdown in Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys in an overtime loss. In Week 6, he went off against the defending Super Bowl champions, rushing for three touchdowns against the Philadelphia Eagles.
However, two weeks later in the Giants and Eagles second matchup of the season, Skattebo injured his ankle trying to make a reception, suffering a season-ending dislocated ankle.
Skattebo finished his rookie season rushing for 410 yards on 101 carries (4.1 yards per carry) and five touchdowns. He also had 24 receptions, 207 receiving yards, ad two receiving touchdowns.
