Josh Allen Opens Up About Potential Broadcasting Career After Football

Josh Allen is already thinking about his retirement, judging by the comments he made this Thursday. Allen seems to be open about the possibility of becoming a broadcaster when he stops playing.

Speaking with CNBC, the Buffalo Bills quarterback said he would “entertain” the idea of following in the footsteps of Tom Brady and Drew Brees and become a broadcaster.

“I do think it would be cool if you can keep it from a strictly broadcasting angle,” Allen told CNBC’s Alex Sherman. “When players go from players to journalists and say certain things that they hated people saying about them, I think that’s where it gets a little murky for me.

“But I do think that it would be something I would entertain. I can’t say for sure, ‘yes’ or for sure ‘no’ right now, because I do go back and forth on it. But yeah, I’d have to put some more thought into it.”

The key difference between sports journalists and analysts (like Tom Brady or Drew Brees) is that the latter don’t have to investigate or ask the tough questions of players and other stakeholders in the industry.

Analysts are limited to offering their knowledge of the game to add color commentary to expand the experience for viewers watching live broadcasts.

Josh Allen would love to compete in the Olympics flag football

Football is making its debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, with its flag football variant being one of the disciplines. It’s been speculated whether NFL stars will make an appearance, which would certainly attract attention. Allen would love to do it:

”I’ve always dreamed of competing for my country and being able to wear my own gold medal, but we’ll see how it works,” Allen said in an interview with NBC New York this Wednesday.

The NFL MVP did admit that flag football is quite a different game from regular American football. But he also said he would be down to learn the ins and outs of it if it gave him a chance of representing his country on the international stage.

The NFL front office and team owners unanimously approved a resolution that allows their players to participate in the upcoming Olympics. The road is open for Josh Allen and his fellow players if the International Olympic Committee approves of it.
