Former Baltimore Ravens coach and current NFL coaching free agent John Harbaugh has reportedly been encouraged to join a certain team. On Tuesday, Jan. 13, football reporter Gary Myers took to his X/Twitter account to report that Harbaugh is leaning towards joining the New York Giants in the 2026 campaign.
This is because the current president, CEO, and co-owner of the Giants, John Mara, is said to have told Harbaugh that he plans on getting back into his role with the team if Harbaugh were to commit to them, despite Mara dealing with an undisclosed case of cancer. Along with this, the post also indicates that former Giants starting quarterback Eli Manning contacted Harbaugh directly.
“John Harbaugh update: By the end of the weekend, he plans to meet with the Giants, Falcons and Titans. I’m told Harbaugh is encouraged that John Mara, who is battling cancer, plans to be in the office when he gets together with the Giants. Also, kind of cool that Eli reached out to Harbaugh to pitch his former team,” Myers wrote.
Among the squads, besides the Giants, that are reportedly interested in garnering the services of Harbaugh are the Atlanta Falcons and the Tennessee Titans. Regardless, it seems as though the Giants are primed to snag Harbaugh with how they have treated their recruitment schemes towards him. If Harbaugh does join the team, he’ll be joining a New York squad that recently finished with a 4-13 overall record.
For Harbaugh, his final stint with the Ravens saw them conclude the 2025 season with a record of 8-9 as they missed this year’s playoffs by a small margin.
John Harbaugh Also Reportedly Met Chris Mara, John Mara’s Brother
Along with the recent reports of John Harbaugh engaging in conversations with John Mara and Eli Manning, a report by NFL reporter Ian O’Connor on Monday, Jan. 12, detailed that Harbaugh had an in-person meeting with Chris Mara, John Mara’s brother. The legendary NFL tactician is said to have met up with Chris, who is currently an executive for the Giants franchise, at the latter’s residence.
