Giants Executive Spills Beans on John Harbaugh Meeting That Clears Interest on his Future

The New York Giants continue their search for a new head coach, having fired Brian Daboll at the end of 2025. It seems a name is surging up in their lists, none other than Super Bowl-winning head coach John Harbaugh.

Harbaugh was recently fired by the Baltimore Ravens for failing to make the NFL Playoffs this season, ending a lengthy 18-year stint with the team.

According to a report by The Athletic’s Ian O’Connor, the coach met with Giants executive Chris Mara over the weekend. O’Connor reported it through his X account.

“Giants executive Chris Mara told @TheAthletic that he met John Harbaugh for lunch Sunday and had an informal meeting at the coach’s house. People on both sides say Harbaugh remains very interested in the Giants job,” wrote O’Connor.

Chris Mara is the New York Giants’ senior personnel consultant. He has an extremely long association with the franchise, with 2025 being his 22nd season with the team. Initially, he was the vice president of player evaluation. In 2012, he was made the vice president of player personnel. In 2022, he moved to his current role.

Who Has John Harbaugh Officially Been in Contact With?

As a Super Bowl-winning coach, John Harbaugh is the hottest commodity available in the current coaching market. He has already officially been interviewed by the Atlanta Falcons, who fired head coach Raheem Morris. This was confirmed by the team, who posted a notice to X.

The Cleveland Browns are also interested in signing Harbaugh, and although they haven’t met with him yet, a Yahoo Sports report confirms that they put in an interview request.

However, there’s an important caveat to the reports. He didn’t meet the Falcons in person. According to NFL reporter Albert Breer, Harbaugh has yet to meet personally with anyone. However, he has had preliminary calls with the Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, Atlanta Falcons, New York Giants, Las Vegas Raiders, and Tennessee Titans. Basically, just about everyone who has a head coaching opening.

However, judging from the way that the Falcons decided to claim they had interviewed him, perhaps their call was longer than with other teams.
